Obituary

Peter F. Murawski, 75, of Myrtle Beach, SC, former Bristol resident passed away Friday, November 10th, in Sumter, SC.

Peter was born December 1, 1947, in Bristol, CT, son of the late Felix F. and Josephine (Kukulka) Murawski. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War. Peter graduated from Hartford Institute of Accounting in 1967 with an Associate Degree in Accounting. Prior to his retirement he was employed as an accountant for Altek Electronics Inc. of Torrington.

Peter was a beloved father, grandfather, partner, and friend to many. He was a man of faith that believed in treating others with respect and kindness. He asked for little, but gave a lot. He had an enormous heart, a quick-witted sense of humor, and an easygoing way about him.

Peter loved fishing – especially in retirement. There wasn't a lake or pond he passed that wasn't scoped out for the best access to bites, and this past year he had the pleasure of teaching his grandchildren how to fish. During retirement Peter also became an author, writing a memoir filled with stories of his life that will now be passed from generation to generation. He was a fan of the Boston Red Sox, UConn basketball, and a firm believer in making the foul shots. Peter enjoyed travelling, visiting with friends, and spending quality time with his family, which he viewed as his greatest accomplishment.

He is survived by his loving partner, Susan Korzeniecky; his daughters, Heather Flannery and her husband Bryan of Wethersfield, CT, Julianne Bermudez and her husband Michael of Middletown, CT; his son Joshua Murawski and his wife Lauren of Charlotte, NC; his grandchildren Grace and Isabel Bermudez, Jacob Flannery, and Emerson Murawski; his sisters, Alice Joyce and her husband Frances, Janice Murawski-Payne, Patricia Murawski and his brother, David Murawski, of Bristol, CT, as well as nieces, nephews and extended family.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday, December 16th, at the Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St., Terryville, CT. Relatives and friends are welcome to calling hours from 10:00am – noon, immediately preceding the service.

Private burial with military honors will be at Fairview Cemetery in New Britain, CT.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research in honor of Peter.
